Hey everybody! My name is Samantha…but you can call me Sam. I am the box office lead at the Clay Cooper Theatre, and Ialso help Tina out with some tasks around the theatre. This is my 5th season at Clay Cooper Theatre, and I love Branson! But, honestly, it wasn’t always that way….

The first time my mom mentioned coming to Branson on vacation, I pitched a fit! I didn’t want to come to Branson…at all! We lived in Iowa, and to me, vacationing one state away was boring. Plus, Branson sounded “lame”. I was about 12 years old and Branson didn’t sound “cool”. Boy was I wrong!!! Once we got here, I completely changed my tune….and I didn’twant to leave! I remember, towards the end of our trip, my parents ran into Walgreens for something, and I stayed in ourvan. I remember this moment like it was yesterday…It was raining lightly; I was sitting there with the window rolled down a little bit, and I could feel the cool rain and I felt so at peace and I said to myself….someday I’m going to live here! From that moment on, Branson was our vacation spot. It started off we’d come once a year, and then we added more and more trips. We made friends here and got to know a lot of people. Ironically, my favorite show growing up was, Country Tonite, which starred….Clay Cooper! We had to see that show every time we were in Branson. My other favorite show, at the time, was 50’s At the Hop. I loved going to see those shows and seeing the sparkly costumes, and bright lights, the singing & dancing….it was so amazing to me watching this live entertainment growing up. I wanted to be up there, on that stage, wearing a beautiful sequined outfit, and singing for the crowd.

As I grew up, and we came to Branson more and more often, some things changed… The Branson shuffle would happen…shows would swap theatres, entertainers would change shows…but the glitter, lights, and music still made me have stars in my eyes and a dream in my heart. Country Tonite was gone, but Clay wasn’t. We started going to see his show and liked it just as much as Country Tonite. We also fell in love with The Haygoods and Grand Jubilee. Branson was my happy place. I got to the point where I started writing Trip Advisor reviews for everything we went to…and those reviews ended up changing my life. One day, the owner of the motel that we would always stay at sat down to talk with me. She was so impressed by my reviews and my personality; she offered me a job! She asked me to come work for the Carriage House Inn. All my dreams about living in Branson were about to come true! But that meant leaving my family behind…they couldn’t pick up and move here…but they encouraged me to go. After some prayers and soul searching, I decided to take her up on her offer. I moved to Branson. That little girl that said someday I’m going to live here, was right!

I was so excited! My dad and I packed up our cars and made the 8 hour drive to Branson. Dad and I made about 40 trips up and down the stairs to get my stuff up to my apartment, and mom helped me get all settled in. It was hard to have them leave, but I was about to live out my dream…spread my wings…and live my Branson life. My parents visited often, which just meant more vacation time for us. I made connections, met more people, made more friends, and got a lot of experience in the work side of Branson. Unfortunately, two years later, I had to make a very hard decision to move back to Iowa. Family health issues were calling me home. My family didn’t want me to give this life I created up, but it’s what I knew I had to do. So, I moved back home to Iowa, and Branson was still our vacation spot, and I still loved it. Branson would be there in the future for me; I knew it in my heart.

So, I stayed in Iowa the next six years, visiting Branson as often as I could, but we couldn’t travel there as much as we wanted. My mom’s health was declining, and I became a full time care giver for her. Sadly, I lost her in 2020, and unexpectedly lost dad about a year later. As I was trying to figure out what to do with my life after these major losses, and as I was trying to put the pieces of my world back together…I knew what I had to do. I needed to pick up and move back to the place that made me happy…and thankfully there was a job with my name on it, here at the Clay Cooper Theatre. Clay & Tina needed someone in the box office and I needed a job. It was a little scary this time, because I didn’t have my dad to help load my car, I didn’t have my mom to help get me settled…but I had a family of friends that were with me and helped me feel at home!

So here I am…back in Branson…things look different in my life, but I am still that little girl sitting in the van in the Walgreens parking lot, living out my dream of living in Branson. As the years went by, I gained more responsibilities at the theatre and received a couple of promotions, and I still love working for Clay & Tina. The box office can get very busy and can be very stressful, but I work good under pressure and I love my job.

I still love going to shows and having fun in town. I love going to all the different theatres in town and supporting all of the love entertainment. I enjoy going to karaoke or staying in having game nights with friends. One of my favorite things to do is to go to the movie theatre and get lost in a good story. With everything life has dealt me, I have discovered that you have to live life to its fullest. I have found a church family at Shepherd’s Heart Church, I have my theatre family, my God-Family back in Iowa, and a circle of close friends that I hold near and dear to my heart and I thank them all for their part in getting me to where I am today.

Life has changed a lot for me over the years. There have been many ups and downs and new chapters. Branson has also changed through the years…but one thing that hasn’t changed is my love for this town and the people in it. I still love going into a theatre and watching shows and listening to music. I love seeing the glitter and the lights, just like I did as a child, and I don’t see that ever changing. Branson has so much to offer people of all ages, likes & dislikes, and all walks of life. It has live entertainment, museums, restaurants, thrill rides, a theme park, the lake and all it has to offer…plus some of the most beautiful scenery you could ask for. I was born in Iowa, but my heart is at home here. And writing this blog today, helped remind me of all of those things I love about Branson. I look forward to continuing this blog and sharing my life’s story, thoughts, and opinions, as I continue to live my Branson life.

I’ve always felt most like myself when I’m out in nature. It’s my happy place. I’m very old-fashioned and I like living with the land and being as self-sufficient as I can. On my 3.5-acre homestead, I grow fresh herbs and vegetables, take care of my chickens, and spend time foraging for wild plants and cultivating them. Feeding deer and birds is always a pleasure….and even have a live camera designed to watch the birds eating. The hummingbirds arrive with a fury and can even be fed with a hand-held feeder. It’s a simple life, but it’s a good one.

I also enjoy landscaping and creating peaceful spaces around the property. I like having quiet spots where you can sit, breathe, and just be. There’s something really satisfying about building that kind of beauty with your own two hands and working with the land instead of against it.

Foraging has become a big part of my life too. It connects me to something older. I’ve taken the time to learn what plants can help with, what can soothe and support the body. A lot of it is forgotten knowledge, the kind people used to rely on every day. Making teas, salves, and simple remedies from what grows around me just feels natural and like it’s part of my purpose here in this life. I love bringing all of that into the kitchen. Cooking with what I grow and cultivate is where my creativity comes out. Simple ingredients, pure flavors, hand-crafted food and real nutrition that nourish without pesticides or bioengineered ingredients.

I use many of these items in the “special event” charcuterie boards I make for my work at Clay Cooper Theater. It’s my way of sharing this old-fashioned lifestyle with others and giving them something that feels a little more real and thoughtful in this crazy world of convenience. My heart is happiest when I can touch someone else’s life with my talents.

Gardening, foraging, cooking, creating. Living with the land and holding onto things that could easily be forgotten. This makes all feel right with my soul.

REAL People. REAL Pride. REAL Improvements

While the doors were closed for the winter, the work didn’t stop. REAL people were here — rolling up their sleeves, making improvements, and getting everything ready for another season of bringing folks together. Because around here, we believe in taking care of what we’ve been given… and making it better every single year.

A Brand-New Stage Beneath the Spotlight

Before the first note of the season ever plays, it starts from the ground up — literally. This winter, we installed a brand-new stage floor. Strong, solid, and built to handle every step, spin, and spotlight moment that hits it. It may not be the first thing guests notice when the curtain rises, but it’s the foundation of every performance. And that matters. Because when REAL people step onto that stage, they deserve the very best beneath their feet.

           Upgrades That Make a Difference

If you glance up toward the balcony this season, you might spot something new. We’ve installed four new monitors up high, making sure guests in every seat stay connected to every moment. We’ve also upgraded to new, crystal-clear microphones, so every word, note, and laugh carries cleanly throughout the room. Clearer visuals. Crisper sound. Better coverage. No matter where you’re sitting, you’re part of the action.

It’s all about making sure the experience feels just as big in the back row as it does in the front.

           The Details Matter

Winter also meant deep cleanings from top to bottom. Seats refreshed. Carpets cleaned. Corners polished. Every hallway, every handrail, every inch of the theatre cared for. Because patriotism isn’t just a flag on the wall — it’s pride in your work. It’s stewardship. It’s looking around and saying, “Let’s make this the best it can be.” That same pride that fills the stage each night lives in the way we maintain this place, too.

           Built on Hard Work

There’s something deeply American about improving what you have. About not settling. About working in the off-season so everything shines when it’s time to welcome people back. That’s what happened here this winter. REAL people putting in REAL effort to make sure when the lights come up and the music starts, everything feels fresh, polished, and ready. And when guests walk through those doors this season, they may not see every upgrade — but they’ll feel it. Stronger foundation. Clearer sound. Cleaner spaces. Same heart. Same pride. Same REAL good time.

REAL People Havin’ a REAL Good Time

If you’ve been around the Clay Cooper Theatre at all, you already know this to be true:
REAL people are havin’ a REAL good time here — and it shows.

Every single day, we see it the moment guests walk through the doors. Friends laughing before they even find their seats. Families pointing at the stage and taking pictures. Couples excited for a night out that feels easy, fun, and familiar. There’s a buzz in the air, and it doesn’t feel forced — it feels genuine. That’s because what’s happening here isn’t just a show. It’s an experience people are sharing together.

Comedy Cranked All the Way Up

One of our favorite moments each night is hearing the crowd respond to the comedy unfolding right there on stage. The timing, the personalities, the unexpected moments — it all lands in real time. The laughter doesn’t politely trickle in… it builds, it bursts, and sometimes it completely takes over the room.

You’ll hear big belly laughs from one section, surprised giggles from another, and that contagious wave of reaction that only happens when hundreds of people are in on the same joke together. That kind of energy can’t be canned or scripted — it’s alive, and it’s different every night.

By intermission, people are still quoting their favorite lines and nudging each other saying, “Did you catch that?” That’s live comedy at its best.

           Music, Memories, and First-Time Favorites

The music brings people together in a powerful way — and not always in the same way.

For some guests, a song sparks a memory. A first date. A road trip. A family gathering. You’ll hear someone say, “I haven’t heard that in years!” with a smile that says everything.

For others — sometimes the younger crowd — it’s the first time they’re hearing that song performed live like this. And that’s just as special. There’s something powerful about discovering a tune for the first time in a room full of energy, lights, and applause. A classic for one generation becomes a brand-new favorite for another.

We see heads nodding, hands clapping, and feet tapping — sometimes all three at once. Whether it’s nostalgia or discovery, the music meets people exactly where they are.

Those little moments add up to something big: a night people remember long after the curtain closes.

Rehearsals Underway for the 2026 Season

Exciting news — rehearsals are already underway for our 2026 season! The cast is hard at work learning new numbers, polishing old favorites, and getting ready to make next year even more unforgettable. While our guests are having fun now, we’re also preparing a fresh lineup that will bring more music, more laughs, and more REAL good times to the stage.

The Gift Shop Is Buzzing Too

The fun doesn’t stop when the show does. Our gift shop stays busy with guests wanting to take a piece of the night home with them. Whether it’s a t-shirt, a hat, or a souvenir for someone back home, we hear the same thing over and over: “This was such a good time.” People aren’t just buying items — they’re keeping memories.

           Visitors From Everywhere

One of the coolest things happening here right now is seeing how far people travel to join us. Guests come in from all over the country, each with their own story about why they chose the Clay Cooper Theatre. Some were recommended by friends, some stumbled upon us while planning their Branson trip, and others make us a must-stop every time they’re in town.

Different backgrounds, same reaction: smiles, laughter, and applause.

A Place Where Everyone Feels Welcome

What really makes this place special is the feeling that you belong here — whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth. There’s no pressure, no expectations, just a shared good time. You don’t have to be a music expert. You don’t have to know what’s coming next. You just show up and enjoy it.

           And people do.

           This Is What We’re About

When we say REAL people havin’ a REAL good time, we mean it. We see it every night in the audience, in the lobby, in the gift shop, and in the conversations as guests head out the door already talking about coming back.

That’s what’s going on here — real laughs, real music, real memories, and a whole lot of fun. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
